The Mascot
A family of breeders happened by one day, and recognizing his star talent, convinced Kermit to move to Redmond, Washington, where he won numerous state championships for Best of Breed, and sired many litters of future pug champions. But nature is cruel, and age eventually caught up with Kermit, who found himself competing for dominance with younger, stronger pugs more and more frequently. Finally, after one such confrontation when Kermit had to have the tip of his bitten right ear clipped, the breeders decided it was time to find Kermit a new home. A girl in Seattle, Washington, heard about the retired champion, and so trekked out to Redmond to adopt a then five-year-old Kermit with her father. This development occurred without the knowledge of the family's matron - who upon discovering this new addition to her household, quickly banished Kermit to the confines of the fully finished, carpeted, and heated basement. But by the end of the week, Kermit had won her over too, and was happily cruising the kitchen floor for scraps and treats. Kermit lived the grand life near the University of Washington campus until 1990, when deciding it was time for a change, he moved to Port Townsend, Washington to live with the family's son. Thus began Kermit's nomadic and jet-setting years, travelling by car and plane with his new keeper to new homes in Seattle, Marin County (California), Minneapolis, and San Francisco, where he lives today.
