The conditions in the Strait of Georgia this morning are such that the Viking has chosen to return to the shelter offered by Nanaimo Harbor. Six foot swells and an oncoming 20 knot wind are enough to toss much of the unsecured items aboard all around the cabin and slow the our progress down to around 5 knots - a rate of progress and a steady pounding which would have continued for a good 8 to 10 hours.
Note: this image was shot once we were out of the main channel and does not represent the conditions in the Strait of Georgia.
